Chocolate Bars....

Satchel's school is raising money for their new building. To earn money they are having the kids sell chocolate bars. He REALLY wanted to do it. Mom and Dad weren't really excited about it but thought that it could be a good experience to teach him about money, math, sales, responsibility, etc. So, he gets home yesterday and says, "Mom I want to go out and find some customers to sell my chocolate to." Already he is so excited because if he sells 2 boxes he gets to go to an ice cream party. I thought it would be "better" if Dad took him. Well, by the time he got home we already had 3 kids come by. Not to mention we got more later. So, the neighborhood is tapped out.

Plan B began by calling family. Satchel calls my mom and was so professional it was funny ("Hi Grandma. This is Satchel. I am selling chocolate bars for my school. Would you like to buy some?...Oh how much? They are only a dollar......You can buy as many as you want I have a lot.") Needless to say, Andrew and I were laughing. Who knew he was such a salesman and only 6.

That isn't even the funniest part. After he talks to her I got on the phone to make sure she understood what was going on and she did. She then asked what Gehrig wanted for his birthday since it is next week. I asked Gehrig and what does Satchel shout out..."He wants a candy bar!" I guess he takes after his Scentsational-Scentsy-Selling-Momma. :)

Happy Birthday Aunt Breezy!!!

(Me & Bree with what we affectionately call our "Jazz Hands".)

I just wanted to quickly make a post for my sister Breezy. She is awesome and we don't fight nearly as much as when we were younger (which is a big improvement). She is turning the big 3-0 today...should I have written that? :) Which makes me grateful that she is OLDER (and always will be :) ) to experience those milestones before me.

All joking aside, I love you Bree. You have been very supportive of me. When times are tough I know that I can call you and if I call enough...you will pick up. Okay, I am joking again. Thanks for putting up with me all these years. I hope your birthday is awesome!

Satchel's First Day of School

From the moment he was awake to the time we left Satchel kept saying: "I am SO excited for school today." He finally got to wear one of the new outfits and put on his Transformer backpack. (Thanks Grandpa Sproul!) He was also excited to see his friends, but I secretly wonder if he really is just bored of home.

Going back to school is nice in some ways though. By this time the boys have been together WAY too much and have begun the all-day bickering. Now when school is out they will be excited to see each other and share what has been going on in their different spheres. Satchel gets all his wiggles out and learns new things. Not to mention the fact that a worn out body and a full brain make going to sleep at night SO much easier. :)

Gehrig won't be going to school this year (misses the deadline by 7 days) so he is a little sad to be left out. I told him we are going to make our own school at home and do fun projects and learn new things. That seemed to appease him. I might try and get him into an activity though just to keep him busy and give a little variety to his day.

I am waiting for lunch time though for Gehrig to really start missing Satchel. Last year we sat down for lunch and he said that he wanted to say the prayer over the food and what did he pray for? That his brother could come home and eat lunch with him because he had been gone too long.

We Miss Our Cousins....

Starting at the bottom of the dog pile: Trevor, Misa, Asia, Satchel, and Gehrig

A couple of weeks ago my Aunt Tina and her family came in town. The kids LOVED having someone to play with. The fact that Trevor would play almost anything with them was a big plus. Misa and Asia were great at keeping Emma busy and it was fun just to hang out. After they left the boys kept asking when we would see them again. I guess we will just have to save up for a trip out there. Oh, and it was nice to see Tina and Ed too. (The parents always get forgotten don't they?)

What in the world have you been doing with your life?

Do you ever think that? Recently I have been amazed by some of my friends accomplishments and all the things that they "know". I have never been a really awesome cook or baker. I don't know how to sew without pulling my hair out. Not to mention that I don't know how to knit or crochet. I don't play one single instrument (I can't even sing on key - those who have sat next to me at church know that one). I have no idea what is "new" on the radio...okay that one really isn't that important but if my husband who didn't even listen to the "regular" radio stations when we first got married now knows more than me...it is a definite blow to my self-esteem. So, the list is actually quite long but I am not going to go on. Instead I want to post what I want to accomplish and I hope that you will comment with your own list.

1. I MUST learn how to cook (and not from a box or cook book)...my poor husband.

2. I will learn to play at least one instrument...even if it is just singing on key for once.

3. I will actually grow a garden (next year since it is kind of late- AGH! I am already procrastinating) and NOT kill them.

4. I will graduate with my Bachelors...some day...in something. (Maybe I should have said: "I will decide what my major is. :) )

5. I will go on a mission with my husband for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

6. I will conquer my fear of needle and thread and make something that I am really proud of and not just tired of unpicking...

Okay, now it is your turn. What do you want to learn or do?

Satchel and the Giant Spider Bite (Caution: Not for the faint at heart)

Well, the poor thing always seems to be ailing somehow. Usually he has Strep. He is one of the few people that carry it around with him and tend to get it 3-4 times a year. Not this time though.

He had complained that he had a bug bite. No big deal, we have all been getting them lately. Then yesterday at lunch he sat down and started crying saying that his bug bite hurt really bad and that it was on his bottom. So I look and behold it is the size of a quarter and black. Needless to say I immediately called the doctor and got him in. We (the doctor and I) are thinking he was bit by a Brown Recluse and the bite was black because the venom kills the surrounding tissue. He was put on antibiotics and now we are just watching to see if anything changes for the worst.

So, funny story....I was talking to a couple of friends (Stephanie and Keli) and I had jokingly mentioned that I was thinking about posting a picture of his injury on my blog. Both didn't think it was too bad, and I was a little surprised. Don't worry. I didn't post anything...I didn't want to scar you for life...I will save it for the scrapbook page (yes, I am just kidding). Anyhow, the funny part is at the end of both conversations I mention that it was on his "BUM" again and they finally figured out that I was not talking about his "THUMB". What a shock they would have gotten when they looked up his picture to see how bad it had gotten. :)

Breaking Dawn....

(Me, Stephanie, Roxy, and Keli)

The festivities started early...okay not really early, around 6:30pm. I dragged my friend Stephanie (who was on bed-rest unbeknown to me) out to go shopping with friends that were in town. Then we picked up two more friends (Keli and Roxy) to go to Barnes and Noble.

Can I just say how fun it is to make fun of others to make you feel better? I mean, I thought I had mania...no not compared to others. Okay, you don't really think I was making fun of a bunch of gals do you? Well, there was one who practically painted herself with white-out and I was REALLY tempted...but refrained. Maybe she was just primed her walls and spilled paint and fell into it OR maybe she is really albino and had trouble putting her makeup on....you never know.

So while we are there the first thing that needed to be done was...get painted on bite marks of course! After that we did a little quiz and headed over to Sonic. It is amazing how hot a store can get with all the bodies in there. Too bad their weren't any vampires available...you don't get it? You'll have to read the book. It gives me a whole new love of air conditioning. :)

(Stephanie showing off her bite mark.)

With all the crowds at Barnes and Noble we were not going to wait there til 2am for a book. So we went to Walmart and met some nice people while we waited for it to be released. Talked theories. Ate cake...Okay, I was the one who ate cake. And laughed. The time just flew by and soon we were in getting our books.

(Roxy and Keli at Walmart)

After that there was no way I was going to be going to sleep so I dropped Roxy and Stephanie off and Keli and I sat on my couch and read until our eyes could no longer see. It was so much fun! Thanks guys (Keli, Stephanie, & Roxy) for being apart of it.
